In the third quarter of 2024, the top five reference apps on the iOS platform in Africa showcased varied performance metrics in terms of downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Bible enjoyed a consistent increase in weekly downloads throughout the quarter, peaking at approximately 22K in the last week of September. The app maintained a stable base of active users, hovering around 650K to 670K throughout the quarter.

Google Translate showed a gradual rise in weekly downloads, culminating at about 20.8K by the end of September. The active user count remained strong, fluctuating slightly but ultimately increasing to approximately 1.04M by the quarter's end.

WeMuslim: Athan, Qibla&Quran presented steady weekly downloads, ranging from 6K to 7.5K. The app's active users increased significantly, starting at around 59.8K in early July and reaching approximately 90.9K by the end of September. Revenue figures for this app were minimal but saw a slight uptick towards the end of the quarter.

Oxford Dictionary experienced stable download numbers, with a notable increase in the latter part of the quarter, reaching about 6.8K. The app's weekly active users remained relatively steady, with a slight increase to around 13.7K by the end of September. Revenue peaked at $392 in early July, with fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Finally, Athkar - أذكار saw a fluctuating download trend, peaking at 7.5K in mid-August. Its active users increased from approximately 67.5K in early July to around 76.9K by mid-September, before settling at 74K by the end of the quarter. Revenue varied, with a peak of $291 in early July and another peak of $279 at the end of September.
